Team Nigeria continues to deliver outstanding performances at the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh.
In Weightlifting, Rafiatu Folashade Lawal demonstrated world-class quality in the Women’s 59kg category, securing 3 GOLD MEDALS and reaffirming her position as one of the continent’s elite athletes.
Edidiong Joseph Umoafia added to the medal haul with a strong showing in the men’s Weightlifting category, earning 1 GOLD, 1 SILVER, and 1 BRONZE.
Meanwhile, in Boxing, Zainab Adeshina has qualified for the final of the Women’s 51kg division following a composed and controlled semi-final performance over her Algerian opponent.

Nigeria is expected to poll additional medal on DAY 4, when Ruth Imoleayo and
Yusuf Islamiyat take the stage in the finals of the women’s 63Kg and 69k weightlifting events respectively while Zainab Adeshina will fight for Gold in the Finals of the 53KG Women Boxing.
Guided by the RHINSE strategic framework, Team Nigeria is currently on track to exceed previous performances at the Islamic Solidarity Games. The National Sports Commission remains focused on strengthening structures, elevating athlete preparation pathways, and ensuring sustained international competitiveness.
