The Centre for International Postgraduate Studies of Environmental Management (CIPSEM) at TUD Dresden University of Technology offers an interactive, full-time course designed for professionals engaged in urban planning and sustainable development.

The SC92 course addresses the urgent challenges of urbanization, fostering sustainable mobility solutions that minimize environmental impact while enhancing residents’ quality of life. It aims to equip participants with the tools to develop integrated sustainable mobility strategies that prioritize public transport, cycling, and walking, thereby promoting social equity and reducing pollution.

Course Overview and Objectives
Duration: August 21, 2025 – September 17, 2025
Location: Dresden, Germany (on-site)

Participants in SC92 will engage in an in-depth study of sustainable mobility within the context of urban development. This includes examining:

✓ Fundamental principles of sustainable transport and its socio-economic impacts.
✓ Policy-making frameworks and strategies for effective urban planning.
✓ Environmental mitigation techniques and promotion of inclusive mobility.

 

Topics include:

1. Introduction to sustainable mobility and urban development.
2. Linkages to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
3. The New Urban Agenda and its implications.
4. Urban planning for sustainability.
5. Strategies for social equity in transportation.
6. The concept of planetary boundaries and doughnut economics.
7. Theory of change for systemic transformation.
Participants will also develop individual Post-Training Action Plans (PTAPs) to facilitate the application of learned concepts in their professional settings.

Fellowship Opportunities

Fully Funded Fellowships: 16 available covering:

  • Accommodation (single studio apartments)
  • Local public transport
  • Tuition fees (including excursions)
  • Round-trip flights, insurance, and €550 for living expenses.

Partial Fellowships: 5 available for candidates who can cover their transportation, but need support with accommodation, local transport, and tuition fees.

Application Process

  • Application Period: February 11, 2025 – March 18, 2025
  • Selection: Up to 21 participants will be chosen by May 2025. Notifications will be sent via email.
  • Certification: Participants will receive a Certificate of Proficiency in Sustainable Mobility: Transforming Urban Spaces.
