Members of the Nigerian Armed Forces (NAF) paid their last respects to 22 of their fallen troops at the National cemetery in Abuja on Friday.
On August 13, 14 troops were killed in a terrorist ambush in Niger State’s Zungeru-Kagara area. Airforce, naval, and military troops sent to evacuate them were also killed in a helicopter crash at Shiroro on August 16.
These were separate incidents which led to casualties the armed forces referred to as a great loss. The officers killed were promising, highly trained and experienced soldiers.

Before his demise, the airman served in the 115 Special Operations Group, Port Harcourt, the 205 Rotary Wing, Ikeja, Lagos, as well as the 413 Force Protection Group, Kaduna.He participated actively in various aircraft maintenance and military operations across the country as an aircraft technician.21Corporal Jauro Amos28Adamawa StateAmos was recruited into the Nigerian Air Force as a member of Basic Military Training Course 40/2019 on August 19, 2019, and allotted a regimental specialty on completion of his Basic Military Training.Until his demise, the airman had served at 213 Forward Operations Base Katsina, Air Force Military School Jos, 371 Nigerian Air Force Detachment Warri (now 320 Forward Operations Base), 25 Force Protection Wing Kerang, and Defence Headquarters Operation Thunder Strike (Special Operations Forces).22.Lance Corporal Alaribe Daniel Nnamdi30Imo StateNnamdi was recruited into the Nigerian Air Force as a member of Basic Military Training Course 32/2014 on August 15, 2014, and allotted the trade of aircraft technician. Until his demise, the airman served in 115 Special Operations Group Port Harcourt and 201 Composite Group Bauchi.He participated in numerous military operations as a flight technician on the MI-171E helicopter across the country.
