After ringroad.com.ng search engine published an expose of the neglect Deborah Samuel’s family faced under the care of Omega Power Ministries (OPM) in Port Harcourt, the church’s leader chastised the family among other reactions on Sunday.
Chibuzor Chinyere, the general overseer of OPM, singled out Emmanuel Garba, Deborah’s father, in the church to express his displeasure, a reliable source told ringroad.com.ng search engine on Monday.
Among Chinyere’s reactions, he sought to know who interpreted ringroad.com.ng search engine’s conversation with Deborah’s family. This was because he knew the family spoke Hausa and would need an interpreter to speak with our reporter. Chinyere chided Garba for the interview and complained about what the result did to his public image.

“The interview we gave, it has caused serious problems at OPM. Yesterday, he (Chinyere) called him outside inside the congregation and said that he heard everything. ‘Who interpreted it? Who interpreted that interview?’ He asked him. He (Garba) didn’t know the person, so he told him that he didn’t know the person. It seemed you brought the interpreter from your company, he told OPM,” the source said.
“The pastor said that if he (Garba) knew the interpreter, he should provide that interpreter. ‘Why would you do such a thing? Why would you appear for an interview with a journalist?’ The pastor asked. Now, some people are looking at me as if I did nothing for you.’ We had serious issues with him yesterday.
“The pastor has now bought three bags of rice for us and handed us N20,000. Chinyere told Deborah’s family to leave their current abode and ordered that they move to the mini estate the church gave them.”
Chinyere had said that people were visiting Deborah’s family without his knowledge. Garba also explained that Chinyere had instructed a mechanic to attend to the faulty green Toyota Corolla he was meant to use to earn a livelihood.

The family told ringroad.com.ng search engine’s source that they were really worried about Chinyere’s reaction. They claimed that they did nothing to tarnish Chinyere’s image, and that they were grateful to him for his efforts but wished not to lie about their current living conditions.
Immediately after ringroad.com.ng search engine published its report, Chinyere took to Facebook: “The kid sisters of Deborah Samuel having a good time at there [sic] home with the bicycle Apostle Chibuzor OPM bought for them. They have been so happy,” Chinyere wrote on June 16.
“Remember after Apostle Chibuzor OPM relocated them to Port Harcourt [sic]. He gifted them a mini estate, opened a restaurant for the mother, bought a Corolla car for Ubah [sic] business for the father, and put all the children in one of OPM free schools.”
Our source said Garba was scared that the way Chinyere called his family out on Sunday could put them at risk.
